Repair or replace a Prospect water heater

Prospect on Google Maps

When a water heater acts up, the first question is whether to fix it or replace it. Rheem, one of the brands we service, says it is time to think about a new tank when the unit is 10 to 15 years old and keeps having problems. Other signs on Rheem’s list are a leak from the base, rusty hot water, a rumbling tank, or a repair that would cost more than half the price of a new heater.

Not every problem means a new tank. Sandra Wilson’s 75-gallon heater needed a new gas control valve, and we repaired it. Doug looks at your heater first and tells you which way he would go. Read more about water heater repair and replacement, or our guide on whether to repair or replace.

“…he installed it the same day.”

Prospect, from farmland to a city

The City of Prospect says the area was mostly farmland, owned by groups of farmers and a few families, until the mid-1960s. The Prospect Store opened in 1911 and served the community for some 52 years. Modern Prospect grew out of the Hunting Creek subdivision, the Hunting Creek Country Club and the Fox Harbor subdivision.

The Kentucky Secretary of State lists Prospect as incorporated on April 3, 1974, and the city reaches into both Jefferson and Oldham counties. Today residents walk the trails at Harrods Creek Park, Little Hunting Creek Park and Putney Pond. Whether you live near Hunting Creek or Fox Harbor, we do the same work here: water heaters, toilet replacement, faucets and leaks.

How a Prospect visit works

“Bottom line, they care about helping people and got me hot water before a massive snowstorm.”

Samuel Gaddie

Our office is in 40205, in an older part of Louisville, and we are happy to drive out to Prospect. Call us, and when Tina sets your time, the cavalry is coming: a two-hour arrival window, and we can call you when we are on the way if you need to leave work. Doug usually comes first to quote the job in person.

We really are a pretty great company, and we are very proud of how we treat people and our reputation.

Do you need a permit to replace my water heater?

Yes. In Kentucky, every water heater replacement must be permitted and inspected through the state Division of Plumbing, and the permit goes to a licensed master plumber or a qualifying homeowner. Doug obtained his journeyman and master plumbing licenses before he started this company in 2000.

Should I pick gas or electric?

We install and repair both gas and electric tank water heaters. Doug looks at what your house has now and talks through the choice when he comes out to quote.

Do you serve the Oldham County side of Prospect?

Yes. Prospect is one of the areas we serve most often, on both sides of the county line. Call (502) 266-9408 to set a time.
