Leaking Pipe Repair in Louisville
Durbin Plumbing finds and repairs leaking pipes inside homes and businesses in Louisville and across Jefferson County: under sinks, behind toilets, at water heaters and at washing machine hookups. Our technicians have at least 20 years of experience.

Leaks we fix inside your house
A leak can be a drip under the kitchen sink, water on the floor of your bathroom, a puddle beside the water heater, or the hookups behind your washing machine.
We find where the water is coming from and fix it. If the leak is at a fixture, see our pages on the faucet, the toilet or the water heater. Sherilyn Lawson wrote:
“Called before they came, assessed the situation, went and got parts and all was done in about an hour. He was very polite and cleaned up after himself.”
What a small leak costs over a year
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the leaks in an average household waste more than 9,300 gallons of water a year, and that 9 percent of homes have leaks that waste 50 gallons or more every day (EPA WaterSense, Fix a Leak Week).
The same EPA page says fixing easy household leaks can save you about 10 percent on your water bill. A faucet dripping once a second wastes more than 3,000 gallons a year by itself. Our tagline says it simply: No One Should Live With a Drip.
How to check your toilet for a leak
You can test a toilet yourself. The EPA suggests putting a few drops of food coloring in the toilet tank and checking the bowl after 10 minutes. If color shows up in the bowl without a flush, the toilet is leaking. Our guide to a running or leaking toilet explains what happens next.
If the water is coming out fast, turn off the stop valve under that fixture or the main shutoff for the house, then call us at (502) 266-9408.
Leaks in older Louisville houses
We live in an older part of Louisville, and our office is in 40205. Doug Durbin worked for other plumbing companies for 15 years before he and Tina founded Durbin Plumbing in May 2000. We find and fix leaks on the pipes, valves and connections in the basement, under the sinks and at the fixtures.
Some of the areas we serve most often are the Highlands and Belknap and Crescent Hill and Clifton, and we are happy to go to any area in Jefferson County. Kelly McDonald wrote:
“We live in a very old home and they were knowledgeable and efficient.”

How a leak repair visit works
We usually answer the phone live, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. When water is getting into your house, tell us. During the day, we can rework our schedule to take care of your urgent problem. Instead of you waiting all day for a plumber while water drips, we give you a two-hour arrival window. Doug Durbin usually goes on site to find the leak and give an accurate quote. You can also reach us through our contact page.
“Came right away and fixed our problem very professional and kind.”

Where in the house do you fix leaks?
We fix leaks under sinks, at toilets, at water heaters, at washing machine hookups, and on the pipes and valves you can reach in the basement. We do this for homes and businesses in Louisville and across Jefferson County.
How much water does a household leak waste?
A lot. The EPA says the leaks in an average household waste more than 9,300 gallons a year, and 9 percent of homes have leaks of 50 gallons or more a day.
Will fixing a leak lower my water bill?
Usually, yes. The EPA says fixing easy household leaks can save about 10 percent on a water bill. How much you save depends on how big the leak was and how long it ran.
How much does leak repair cost?
Doug quotes the job on site after he finds the leak. What changes the price: where the leak is, what kind of pipe or fitting it is, how hard it is to reach, and what parts it takes.
What should I do until you get there?
Turn off the stop valve under the leaking fixture if it has one. If you cannot find it, or the leak is on a pipe, turn off the main water shutoff for the house. Then call (502) 266-9408 and tell us what you see.
