How a Crescent Hill visit works

Crescent Hill, Louisville on Google Maps

When you call, we usually answer the phone live, and you can always get in touch with Tina or Doug, the owners. Tina sets the time, and you get a two-hour arrival window rather than a whole day stuck at home.

Doug Durbin usually comes out, looks at the problem and prices it in person. Some small problems never need a truck at all. For one customer with an older home, Doug solved a toilet problem over the phone.

“…ended up all I had to do was tighten one bolt on the back of my toilet.”

Mabyn Pappas

Clifton's history along Frankfort Avenue

Frankfort Avenue began as a turnpike. Louisville Metro says the road was laid out between 1818 and 1830 as the Louisville and Shelbyville Turnpike. The city named Clifton a local preservation district in 2003, and the district covers about 423 acres between Brownsboro Road, Interstate 64, Ewing Avenue and Mellwood Avenue.

Crescent Hill holds a piece of Louisville’s water history. The Crescent Hill Reservoir opened in 1879 and held 110 million gallons, at least a two-week supply for the city back then. Its restored gatehouse became a Kentucky Historic Site in 2010, and nearby Zorn Avenue is named for Sebastian Zorn, a Louisville Water Company president.

We live in an older part of Louisville ourselves. Mabyn Pappas wrote that we are the call for “…the inevitable bigger issues that come with an older home.”

Water heaters, toilets and leaks in Crescent Hill

“We live in a very old home and they were knowledgeable and efficient.”

Kelly McDonald

We love water heaters! We repair and replace gas and electric tank water heaters. In Kentucky, every water heater replacement needs a state permit and an inspection, and Doug holds a master plumbing license. We also replace toilets, from fixing a running tank to a new low-flow model.

Our page on leaking pipe repair covers the leaks we fix inside the house. For a longer read on houses from the 1800s and early 1900s, see plumbing in older Louisville homes.

“Came right away and fixed our problem very professional and kind.”

Can you work on plumbing in a house from the 1800s?

Yes. We live in one of the older parts of Louisville, and Doug usually sees the job first, so your quote is not a guess made over the phone.

Can you help over the phone with a small problem?

Sometimes. If Doug can tell from your description that it is a loose bolt or a simple adjustment, he will say so. If it needs hands on the job, we set a time with a two-hour window.

How far is your office from Crescent Hill?
